Yasmine Delawari (born Yasmine Z. Delawari, 27 September 1972 in Los Angeles, California) – Afghan-American actress and producer, daughter of Afghan immigrants. The first Afghan-American Rose Queen (1990, representing La Cañada Flintridge), she earned a degree in Political Science from UCLA before training at Circle in the Square in New York. She made her acting debut at age 13 in The Children of Times Square (1986), then had a 15-year hiatus before resuming her career in 2002. Her most notable film roles include Sunday in Mr. Brooks (2007, opposite Kevin Costner), the English Teacher in Thirteen (2003, opposite Holly Hunter and Nikki Reed), Maria Barrera in Megalodon (2002), and Operator #2 in Lies and Alibis (2006, opposite Rebecca Romijn). On television she held a recurring role as Yasmin Amir in American Family (2004, 13 episodes, PBS), appeared in The Shield (2004) as Angelica, and E-Ring (2005–2006) as Mira/Maya. She has been married to entertainment lawyer Matt Johnson since 2007, with four children, and has since largely stepped away from acting, producing the documentary We Came Home (2013).
